STUDENT DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP

In the interest of safety, the parking lot is not available for student drop-off and pick-up.  The white curb along Arroyo Avenue (in front of the school) is a loading zone for student drop-off and pick-up.  You cannot leave your car unattended in the loading zone without risking a ticket from the police department.  Having children cross the street at unmarked areas or run between cars can result in serious injury or fatality.  Students are to use the marked crosswalks.  A crossing guard is provided to help children cross the street safely at the corner of Arroyo Avenue and Glen Avenue. Students are expected to cross under his/her direction, be respectful, and listen carefully. Parents are encouraged to allow enough time for the safe arrival and departure of their children.

BICYCLES

In accordance with California law, ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR A HELMET. Bicycles are not allowed in the halls or on the playground before, during or after school.  Upon immediate arrival on school campus, students are to walk their bicycle to the bike rack, secure them with a lock and proceed to the playground.

VISITING THE SCHOOL

You are invited to visit the school and become acquainted with your child’s teacher and the programs planned.  The following visitation policies are approved by the Board of Education:

  1. You are encouraged to visit your child’s classroom with prior arrangement and notification, at least one day in advance, with the classroom teacher.
  2. As a safety precaution, ALL PERSONS ENTERING THE SCHOOL CAMPUS MUST REGISTER AT THE SCHOOL OFFICE and wear the “Visitor” sticker while on campus.
  3.  For subsequent discussion regarding the visitation, a conference should be arranged with the teacher following class dismissal.

RELEASE OF STUDENT TO PARENT OR AUTHORIZED PERSON

If your child must be released from school before the end of the day (1/2 hour before dismissal), please send a note to his/her teacher stating the time of release.  Please report to the School Office, sign the “Student Release Register” and a call to the classroom will notify the teacher that the student is to report to the office to be released.  A child will be released to a parent or authorized person only; that is, an adult designated by the responsible parent on the Emergency Card on file at school. All authorized individuals must, sign the student out, and provide PICTURE IDENTIFICATION. Please keep in mind, that there may be a delay in locating your child if they are being picked-up during recesses, during enrichment activities, or the last half our of the day.
